Hello,

I have been attending a Catholic Church since 2010 now.

The RCIA class has beeen publicized in recent weeks. Unfortunately, I am unable to attend because it is on a weeknight and cannot go due to work commitments.

Does anyone know if it might be possible to be received into the Church at Easter without attending RCIA because I have attended for a few years now?

Thank you.

This is a question for your pastor. He should be able to make accommodations for those who cannot attend the catechesis nights.

Have you talked with anyone in your parish to find out what options might be open to you? Folks involved in RCIA tend to be very dedicated and will usually make every effort to accommodate people’s schedules. But you won’t know if you don’t ask.

We have 4 candidates attending our group - but there is a fifth member who has never been able to attend, because his work all week is at the other side of the country and abroad. The priest said tonight that this other candidate would join the Church with us at the Easter Vigil, as he has been giving him individual tuition.

So with the support of your priest, you should hopefully be fine!

You have to speak to the coordinator. I had a similar situation when I took the class the first year and they made arrangements.

Yes. There is no RCIA requirement, just a requirement you understand the faith. Talk to your pastor and work something out.

This seems to vary. I understand it is possible, but the Parishes around north Atlanta all told me I would have to go through RCIA, which I did and was grateful for. We have people who have been a “member” of the church for twenty years and they finally decided to become Catholic, and they too went through RCIA.

I think this requires a Bishop’s approval… but I am not 100% sure. This may just be a policy of the ArchDiocese of Atlanta. In any case, welcome!
