A friend and I have been having a discussion about something we think we learned about in a class at FUS, but we disagree. Here’s the question: Under Catholic teaching, when a married couple has trouble conceiving is it permissible to have sexual intercourse with a condom to collect semen, go to the doctor’s office, and have the doctor inject the semen into the woman for the purpose of conception? My friend thinks she remembers that if the condom has a hole in it, this is okay. I think it sounds more like trying to conceive without the unitive act. Who is right?
