We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead. We believe we will be corporeal beings in heaven. Mary, Jesus, Elijah, Elisha, all are bodily in heaven. Those who were bodily raised from the dead after the crucifixion, are in heaven.

The Saints who are in heaven now: are only there with their souls. We know their bodies are on earth.

I’m forgetting something.

When will they be reunited with their bodies?

1016 By death the soul is separated from the body, but in the resurrection God will give incorruptible life to our body, transformed by reunion with our soul. Just as Christ is risen and lives for ever, so all of us will rise at the last day.

1017 “We believe in the true resurrection of this flesh that we now possess” (Council of Lyons II: DS 854). We sow a corruptible body in the tomb, but he raises up an incorruptible body, a “spiritual body” (cf. 1 Cor 15:42-44).

👍 End of thread!

Thank you. I always wondered how dead people can have their bodies resurrected if their bodies were already cremated …

2301 Autopsies can be morally permitted for legal inquests or scientific research. The free gift of organs after death is legitimate and can be meritorious.

The Church permits cremation, provided that it does not demonstrate a denial of faith in the resurrection of the body.93

If a nuclear blast scatters your atoms across the planet Our Father knows the where and when and will resurrect your body.
