No, I used to be a Slayer fan. Nothing surprises me.

All I’ll say is you already know you shouldn’t be listening to a band that makes songs about Ed Gein and Joseph Mengele and calls Jesus “False god, Sorcerer”.(in the song Not of this God)

Slayer is the one band that I used to listen to that I now avoid like the plague. Their music and shows are overflowing with blasphemous imagery and themes.
It is extremely counter-productive to your spiritual growth and your relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ to walk around with those songs echoing through your mind.

I used to have the documentary Hated: GG Allin and the Murder Junkies on DVD, but not anymore. My mom essentially made me get rid of it.
Well I guess your not very devoted to god then, exposing your mind to all that sin, while you know its bad. Eh. I don’t really care. Its not even because its a sin to me that I stopped listening to that ****, The closer I get to god the more uncomfortable I feel about blasphemy, gore, pornography, coprophagia. I don’t think our heavenly Father wants us to watch/listen to such things…

this is rather a tough one … lyrically speaking its trash … ok … moving on along to the other side of it … the instrumental work is among some of the most technically sophisticated music written since the days of J. S. Bach.
get yourself a six string test your meddle on some of those solos and take that skill to your church choir

I’d advise against the song Raining Blood, but other than that, enjoy the heavy metal

Is it OK to listen to Alice in Chains? I have the Dirt CD.
Dirt is okay. If it was Jar of Flies or later, you’d have some serious penance to offer! 😛

In all seriousness, though, what is the objection to that album? It’s been a long time since I’ve heard any of those songs and I don’t really recall any of the lyrics. I remember liking “Angry Chair” almost enough to buy the album, but then they got popular and grouped with the “alternative” scene, so I kind of tuned them out. 🤷
