Can anyone tell me the following information: Is the oil that is used in the lamps and burned before St Joseph’s statue at his major shrine in Canada blessed before it is put into the lamps?

**Our family’s website apostolate: **

homestead.com/missionbell/index.html

(saints, devotional items, prayers, miracles, articles on autism, poems, panic attack management, educational items and more).

**Novena to St Philomena the Wonder Worker for the healing of autism: **

homestead.com/missionbell/novenaforautisticchildren.html

Each person (who has autism or an autism related condition) whose name is sent to be included in this novena, will be prayed for regularly by a priest of Lourdes, France at the grotto. Only the first name of the person is needed for the purpose of this novena. Everyone is invited to send names: parents, grandparents, teachers, doctors, aunties, therapists etc.

**The powerful intercession of the Holy Souls in Purgatory for their
benefactors: **

missionbell.homestead.com/Afavourgrantedbytheholysouls.html

The web page has accounts of the intercession of The Holy Souls in Purgatory, for their benefactors in cases of illness, addictions, cars that won’t start, infertility problems, protection in accidents, their help for people who are experiencing major trouble with city councils, success with projects, finding lost property and trouble with relations, etc. and prayers and ideas on how to help The Holy Souls in Purgatory.

confusing post
don’t get the purpose of the links in relation to thread title
which shrine
where in canada
expected a link to the shrine, not to unrelated devotions

St Joseph’s Oratory in Montreal is the major shrine to St Joseph in Canada. It is known throughout the world. I did not have a link for it. In relation to the other posting: I did see the program on EWTN but also years ago read a book on Br Andre by Katharine Burton.

As you say the other links are unrelated to the question. Many people put a link to their website or blog at the end of their post and never do I imagine that they are necessarily related to the actual questions or comments in the posting.

Umm … in a place as big as Canada I’m sure there’s more than one shrine to St Joseph, why didn’t you say ‘Montreal’? And ‘known throughout the world’ doesn’t mean that most people, or even anyone on CAF apart from yourself, has heard of it!

Would you say ‘St Mary’s Cathedral Australia’ without specifying Sydney? And just assume that everyone knew which place you were talking about, even though St Mary’s would be reasonably well-known??

Only one featuring oil – come to think of it, I’m not aware of any other shrine to St. Joseph.

In hindsight I should have said Montreal. JRKH posting on this thread proves that some people on CAF do know what is meant by the major shrine in Canada.

I would not say ‘St Mary’s Cathedral Australia’ without specifying Sydney. There is a St Mary’s Cathedral in Perth Western Australia as well.

And? Makes my point, you should always specify 🙂 I’m sure there are other churches in honour of St Joseph in Canada, so there’s still potential for confusion.

Here endeth the lesson 🤓 😉
