Question about tattoos?

Ok so I have several tattoos 4 to be exact. They are not bad images or anything like that.
I have always wanted a tattoo since I was a teen. But, my parents would always tell me that it was a sin and they did not approve of them.and they told me they never wanted to see one on me because only certain kind of people get them . So fast forward to now I am 23 I’m a full time college student and I have a job. But I still live at home. Now that I have my tattoos I’m scared to show them to my parents, I feel they will look down on me and tell me that I have sinned. Also, I think I may be kind of addicted I told myself I just was gonna get one small one but now I have 4 all of them are on my lower back and side. I just got one big 3 hour piece done also on my lower back going up my side… . I don’t know I just like how the needle feels. To be honest. But now it’s worrying me because Im scared my parents will see them. I guess I just need some advice… Thanks 👌
Also they can all be covered at all times if needed… I told myself I wouldn’t get one that showed all the time… Because the career I’m getting when I finish college is one that you can’t have tattoos all over you. Lol

I’m an electrical engineer and I have tattoos you can’t hide. I am employed in the field.
 
It’s not sinful to have tattoos, but I have heard people who have them say that they can get addicting. That would bother me more than anything else you have said, and I would see if maybe there’s something going on there - if you’re a full-time student you probably have access to counseling services at your school.

Since none of your tattoos are in a conspicuous place, you shouldn’t worry about your parents seeing them. They shouldn’t be seeing you in any kind of state of undress, and if you dress modestly you have no worries.

At 23, you should be concerning yourself with becoming independent, especially if you feel like your living arrangements are contingent on your parents’ approval of your lifestyle. Even though I know it’s not sinful, my understanding is that tattoos can be expensive, especially the larger ones, and it would test my patience to have an adult child living with me who spent their money on things like that instead of rent (though if you do pay rent to your parents, that’s different).

I’d be careful about getting addicted to them. I don’t believe they are sinful, but do remember St.Paul reminded us to take care of our bodies as they are temples of the Holy Spirit. Another thing to consider, is maybe 20 or 30 years from now they may not appear to be so cool to you or your spouse and kids. As for your parents, I’d be careful not to offend them if you’re still living with them.
 
I don’t judge people who have tattoos. It’s a personal choice and no one else’s business. I am, however, very grateful that my 1972 Brady Bunch polyester pants weren’t permanent.
 
I have 2 tattoos (nothing obscene), 1 that I got in my 20’s and 1 in my 30’s. If I could go back in time and not tell my parents about them I would. I wish I would have kept them private. They are on my back also and they would have never known. Their judgmental attitude & reaction were harsh. I thought oh I’m and adult, they’ll respect my decisions and we’ll have a great open relationship where we can openly share about things going on in our lives. Ummm, nope. I learned that with my parents anyway, there are some things that parents don’t want to know, no matter how old I am. I personally would not say anything then if your mom happens to see it somehow in the bathroom or whatever deal with it then. I would not go inviting criticism.

As for tattoos, I really know nothing about them. My only concern is always what if you change your mind? And I had a tattooed friend, and he also thought they were “addictive.”

I agree with everything u said … Yes my parents are very judgemental … I have to keep them hidden because they will react the way your parents did… I could never be open about anything going on in my life I wish I could have that relationship with them. Thanks for your advice 👌👍

Not to ruin the tattoo party but aren’t tattos banned in the bible, Leviticus to be more precise.

In the NT it states that we should take care of our body as its home to the Holy Spirit.

Coptic Church and in Ethiopia as well, tattoos with Christian symbols are very common. While the Eastern Orthodox Church has generally negative view on tattoos.
And tattoos are not something Christians should waste their energy on, there are far more important things to be focused on, and risking a sin with having a tattoo is not of great use for salvation.
 
I’d worry about getting out of the house first. It’s just easier to go through the process of separating yourself from your parents and establishing that you make adult decisions, when you don’t live with them.

Once you’re out, you can tell them if you wish, but you are under no obligation to. If you do, or if they find out, just say that you have made the decision as an adult, that you don’t think it’s any more of a sin than cutting your beard or wearing mixed fabrics (other parts of the ceremonial law), and that it’s not up for discussion.
