The church i go to does a solemn high mass every sunday. All through Pentecost the Mass started with the aspereges, but on thanksgiving it was Saint John of the cross feast day and the priest did not start the mass with the aspereges. Im not sure why though? I got a little lost in the missal at the very begining as to where he was starting the mass. When does the mass start with the asperges ? What about this sunday which is November 27 , which is the first Sunday in Advent. Anyone know if the mass will start with the aspereges ? If not then where will it start. I use the baronius press missal 1962 missal

The Asperges is done at the principal Mass on Sunday, once per week only.

A Solemn High Mass, normally has the Asperges. It also has a deacon and a sub-deacon. If these two are not present then it was probably a High Mass, which may or may not have the asperges. Both these Masses are sung Masses.

The Asperges (or in Paschaltide, the Vidi Aquam) is in my experience only done at Sung or Solemn Mass on Sundays.
