Dear to all,

Questions:
  1. Is the English-Latin Breviary (1962) about to be released by the Baronius Press this coming 2008-2009 will be the Divino Afflatu version promulgated by Pope St. Pius X or the 1960 revision made by Pope Blessed John XXIII?
  2. In relation to the Roman Breviary, is the SSPX and FSSP using the Divino Afflatu by Pope St. Pius X or the 1960 version of Pope Blessed John XXIII?

The FSSP uses the John XXIII breviary and I think that a majority, if not all, of the SSPX does as well. Within both the groups, however, there is a strong preference for the Vulgate psalter instead of the Pian.

The “Vulgate” psalter isn’t: it’s the Vetus Latina.
 
Actually, the entire question of the Psalter in the Roman Liturgy is complex.

My understanding (and I may be confused here) is that there were originally TWO versions of it: the so called “Gallican” psalter (the most common) and the “Roman” psalter (used in the city of Rome itself).

The Franciscans adopted the Curial (that is, Roman Secular) Office, but with the Gallican Psalter. This became the basis of the Breviarium Romanum.

And sometimes texts in the Graduale Romanum (which had music) didn’t exactly match that given in the Missale Romanum.
