I am in college for a degree in Medical Office Management. I have to do an internship to get my degree, but I am having a really hard time finding a doctor’s office to do an internship in where the doctor would not give out birth control(pills, etc.) I have applied at specialist offices, such as: cardiologist, podiatrist, radiologist, etc…, with no luck. I am running out of time and I don’t know if it would be morally exceptable to do an internship where I would possible have to deal with birth control issues. What do you all think? Would it be ok to work for a short time at a doctor’s office where they deal with contraception. I would be dealing with Medical Coding(insurance filing), medical records, receptionist, etc… Thank you for your advice.

That is your decision. My spouse is a nurse and specifically refused employment for that very reason even though she was not directly involved. Pray on it. God will answer you.

You might look for a doctor’s office that is in a Catholic hospital. Certainly some will provide birth control but see if you can get a list of Catholic doctors. That should narrow things down.

Also realistically a cardiologist is NOT going to be prescribing birth control. If you go to a specialist and want something that a GP or internist provides they will send you back to your GP and not give it.
You should be pretty assured if you are working for a doc who is not doing GP or internal medicine or ‘women’s’ medicine you won’t encounter BCP.

Try the One More Soul website. They list doctors (by all specialities) that advocate NFP. You might get lucky and find one in your area.

I think that it would be great if you could continue your search and find a doctor that is not involved in immoral activity to do your internship. However, if it gets down to the wire, the type of activities you will be doing are considered** remote ** cooperation, not material cooperation. Therefore, you could go ahead and work at one of these places. After your internship, when you have more time and the flexibility, you can find something else.
