Question about World Youth Day

Hi Everyone,

I was hoping you could help answer a question for me. I am interested in helping to send some kids from my parish to world youth day. Recently someone told me that the age limit is for 18 year olds and up unless you have a chaperone for kids under 18. This was news to me since I thought it was geared more towards high school aged kids (around 16-18+) years old.

My question is this age limit just for the Brazilian WYD or is this how it is going to be from here on out for all WYD’s?

It might help to check with the Diocesan Youth Services. It was 16-35 in England and Wales for the WYD Madrid. I suppose it will be the same for WYD Rio.

Yeah that is what I thought as well.

I talked to ourYouth program coordinator and she is saying our diocese only is letting 18+ year olds go. This seemed funny to me so I tried looking at our diocese’s website but couldn’t find any relevant information. It seems other diocese are still letting 16 year olds go so I wonder if it is just a function of my own diocese. I did email the diocesian youth coordinator so hopefully I will hear something definative.
