WOW, there have been some VERY GOOD responses to my questions!! 😃 I had to laugh because of some of the responses to my question, ā€œHow can you not have sex???ā€ I am not saying that that is all that the marital relationship is about, however I think I feel more called to a marital life rather than the priesthood. I am deeply in love with the girl I’m with now, so much so that I deeply look forward to sharing my life with her… 😊 My questions about the priesthood are actually because I’m calmly curious. I felt called to be a Protestant minister whenever I was a Protestant. After all, I am a professional Bible-surfer and can give very compelling religious speeches (I don’t mean to sound boastful or proud of myself, just a couple of talents of enthusiasm I picked up from my old Baptist church minister.) I think I would make a great theology professor or maybe a deacon, I would absolutely love to serve the priest as Timothy served St. Paul. However, the questions I presented were more so I could get a better understanding of the priest, not out of reasons for personal vocation. I’m sorry if I disappoint anyone, but I don’t think I’m a future priest. 😦 Learning about why our fathers feel called to this vocation was very enlightening about the priest’s spirituality. Thank you all very much, priests and nonpriests, you all answered my questions remarkably. šŸ‘
You could always look into the permanent Diaconate. Deacons are clergy too ya know? They have a different function than Priests but just as (and in many cases more) demanding than a Priests faculty. It is just as essential for a Parish too. Though in regards to what you wrote, as a Deacon you wouldn’t be serving the Priest. Deacons serve their Bishops directly. They are on equal footing with Priests in the hierarchy but each have different roles. Though I’m sure you know that already. But hey, I’m happy for you that you are with such an amazing girl. I pray it works out for you two šŸ‘ Keep your heart and mind open though. Nothing stopping you from being in a committed relationship/marriage with the love of your life and still serve God as a clergyman through the Diaconate (if of course you are genuinely called). If you truly feel a calling, don’t ignore it. Give it a shot. The worst that happens is you find out you are only called to marriage. Oooooh darn lol

How do you wake up next to the same person day after day after day after day without getting bored or sick of them?
How do you live a life where you have to ask permission to go out with your friends?
How do live a life where someone else will tell you what to watch on TV, what to wear, and where you’re going on vacation?
What do you do if she loses interest in sex?

Man, married people live such a strange life, I don’t know who would chose that… lol
NewEnglandPriest. . . such freedom you have! :thumbsup:for the Priesthood!

:rotfl: I actually said in an earlier post that if this relationship doesn’t work out them I’m DEFINENTLY becomming a priest, because I’d rather live a life of celibacy than to deal with this all over again!! Of course, these would be vain intentions. Lol. šŸ˜›

I think the only motivation is good ol’ fashion Christian love: egope’. If its not egope’ then the marriage fails, because not a day goes by that I don’t why God didn’t give Eve an ā€œoffā€ button. Poor Adam. :o

Yes, I’ve looked intensively into becomming a permanent Deacon. And thank you for praying for my relationship, I could really use that alot these days. šŸ™‚
