I want to explain the Catholic faith if I can to those who don’t understand it. Many times I learn from others. Maybe I want to show off sometimes. It’s interesting to better understand others’ points of view.

Sorry to hear that Prodigal Son…and I mean this, as long as you believe in Lord Jesus Christ you can take Communion in almost any Protestant Church, Anglican would be the easiest I would say…even Seventh-day Adventist would welcome you.

Thank you very much. That is most kind of you. But I don’t believe Jesus is God or Messiah or even a very original Rabbi. For me, Christianity is a package deal – the authority of the Catholic church goes hand in hand with the scritpures and the creeds and the sacraments and the whole shlabang. Take away the authority of the church and the whole house crumbles. I don’t really much care for the protestant churches – every decade that goes by they get exponentially more fragmented and chaotic and infested with all sorts of bizarre teachings as they are accountable to no one. I do have a lot of warm feelings for the Catholic church, and very good memories, even though I am no longer Catholic or Christian. I would never do anything so sacreligious as to take communion when I am not a believer.

I am mostly a lurker here and throw a shot in or 2 now and again but… I ask myself and others no matter what your Faith… Do you come on this board (non Catholic religions) to

A) Save Souls???
B) sinful pride???
C) truely defend your faith???

I ask because heated arguments sometimes feel as though they have no point but only to argue out of pride…

I come here to understand others Journey in the Light. I come hoping to see how this Journey has made lives better…more joyous…more hopeful…to read how the Living One has touched their lives and caused them to impact the world around them and share in the Kingdom of God.

Sometimes we are more concerned about proving ourselves right…than living in righteousness and holiness.

I have nothing to prove…but I hope to share with others this Journey in the Light…it is not an organization or belief system that makes us one…it is the work of God and His Holy Spirit that moves in each of our lives that binds us together in Him.

I come for comradery, to socialize with folks who believe or who do not believe as I do. I also come to see how other folks journey may be similar or different from mine.

I like the discussions or debates on various topics. I am always interested in the Atheist point of view because that is what a couple of my kids have become. I would like to be able to convince my kids to return, so folks who were atheist and converted are especially noticed.

I visit to see if some of my experiences may be helpful to others, to see if I can offer advice or insight into problems that they may be facing, or at least encouragement if that is all I can do.

Well hello Prodigal Child. The Christian Church (Catholic and Protestant) is built on the Lord Jesus Christ He is alive and is also the Creator of the Universe (unless you are a ‘fool’ and believe in evolution) so the Christian Church will not crumble…

As for the Protestant Churches I acknowledge the frangmentation, but this comes from the apostasy of the Roman Catholic Church during the dark ages, Protestant churches have held on to some of the apostate beliefs and others have added their own extra beliefs so I agree it is hard to find the wheat amongst the weeds…

Which makes the Roman Catholic Church look good…I have to agree it does…

So my advice, read and study the Bible with a good concordance…and find a Church you are happy with…and carry on the journey to Heaven, Salvation through the Life and Death of the Lord Jesus Christ…

To be so lucky to have (A). Sadly, probably a little of (B). In part, (C) too - but more to show that there are progressive elements in the SDA church too. Brother2 and I will probably have some rousing discussions.

I’m sorry to hijack this thread a bit. You bated me on this one. Perhaps we can take this offline or begin a separate thread.

Anyway, I think modern evolution theory gets over simplified and there are really several points to address:

1. What are the origins of the cosmos?
2. How did life come to be on earth?
3. How did man come to be?
4. How old is the earth?

In addition,

• Is the Genesis account meant to be taken literally?
• Does Genesis really answer the “how” of creation or rather just the “who”?
• Does God measure time the same way we do?
• Can I give God the credit for creation but still believe in evolutionary processes?
• Is evolution a tool that God can use? I.e., He sometimes directs mutations and changes for His purpose.

They too are on the same Journey…“that of God” too is present withing them…the Light Within is a present Guide for even an agnostic. Perfect knowledge isn’t required to do good…or to do what is right. The Light Within works in all humanity to bring them to Truth…be they atheist, agnostic, Christian, Buddhist, Muslim or “Joe down at the corner drug store.”
