This question is for those who believe in once saved always saved.
John warns us to remain in Christ:
“And now, children, remain in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not be put to shame by him at his coming (1 John 2:28).”
Jesus says the same thing:
“Remain in me, as I remain in you. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me will be thrown out like a branch and wither; people will gather then and throw them into a fire and they will be burned (John 15:4-6).”
Someone cannot “remain” somewhere they have never been, yet OSAS theology wants us to believe just that. If it’s not possible to be in Christ and then choose not to remain there, why the warning to remain in Christ? To whom was Jesus referring when he spoke of those who do not remain in him? What does remaining in Christ entail according to OSAS theology?
