My degree is in Elem Ed; I graduated from college 23 years ago!

I taught in a classroom for a year, had kids, homeschooled them, and now I home teach for the county school system & teach at a homeschool co-op.

I have a job interview tomorrow at a small, Catholic school.

Can anyone clue me in as to what kinds of questions I might be asked!!! I really don’t know what to expect. TIA!! --KCT

Let’s see, I’m a special ed teacher and my wfie is a principal of a public K-5 school. She was also an assistant princpal at a Catholic high school, now closed. She advised me when I was interviewing to focus answers on what’s best for children. Of course, interviewing at a Catholic school, you also want to focus on what Christ means in your life and how important you think Catholic education is to the Church, the parish, and the community at large.

Good luck and God bless. I’ll be praying for you,

John

I would only add because a Catholic can tend to be smaller than the average public elementary school down the block, yet can encompass more grades, you should ask to take a tour of the building, and possibly meet the other teachers. A good fit is important with a small group! Not everybody has to be your best friend, but it helps if the people there are willing to “go along to get along”. Sometimes, a principal fills a slot with the first warm body, and it isn’t a good fit. This is tricky for you, because this is your first interview with this school. But if at all possible, give the place a gander.

After all that wordiness (and you may knock me down one letter grade for it;) ), MAKE SURE YOU LIKE THEM AS WELL AS THEY LIKE YOU.

Thanks for the replies. I am aquainted w/ several people at the school (teachers, exec director, chaplain) and have visited many times. (though as a guest, not prospective employee!)

The academic and behavior standards are high. They do not water down the faith. I’ve always known that if I went back to a classroom, this school would be my first choice 👍 . They want teachers who are faithful Catholics.

I meet w/ the HR coordinator, principal and lower school coordinator this afternoon. —KCT

Thanks for asking. From my perspective, it went well! I love the school, but I already knew that!

I won’t hear back for a couple of weeks. —KCT
