Have any of you ever posted in another area of this forum and found the regular posters there a bit taken back by the insistence of evidence to support claims we demand here? Just curious.

I post all over the place; mostly in News, however. I wonder how frank I can be about what I see in other “regular posters” on this forum … ponder ponder … Charity dictates I remian silent 😉

I’m not asking for names! 😃 Just general observations.

Lately I have been posting a lot in another area and it seems, no offense to anyone, that the standards of behavior are more lax than they are on this forum. Probably just our great moderator! (Shameless attempt to curry favor! C’mon on guys jump on the bandwagon before she figures it out!) 😃

I mean here if you make a claim you better be able to support it with evidence or you will get smacked down in a minute!

Maybe it is just me…

I hang out here and Apologetics, as the two usually involve much of the same kind of work. Apologetics has the same high standards from what I can see; I often wonder if I’ve posted enough information and verification when I answer a question or attack. It also depends on the particular poster–some posters give loads of links and quotes, some (particularly the “hit-and-run” types who make a half-truth accusation and then leave without even bothering to explain themselves) don’t give any verification.

In brief, Apologetics seems to have the same standard for posting links, etc. Liturgy and Sacraments does to some extent when dealing with GIRM or Canon Law and other such things. It all depends on who’s posting and what they’re posting.

As a poster on the other forums - I would probably agree with you. I generally only respond to the JW threads on the NCR’s because I have firsthand knowledge of that faith. Most everything else - and especially on the Apologetics forum - I feel about 30 IQ points shy of making a good post. 🙂

So I stick to what I like - water cooler - family topics - popular media etc. You guys are just too smart for me. (although I’m probably cuter?! 😉 )

I like this forum a lot, but wanted to branch out a bit into Liturgy & Sacraments as that area interests me as well, but it seems opinions without evidence is the norm for some there. I know many are not happy with some (many, most) of the decisions of Vatican II, but the disregard for the authority of the Church and insistence that something is wrong or an abuse without any evidence to support their claims drives me nuts. So thanks to everyone here that realizes an opinion without evidence is just an opinion!

OK carol marie, I’ll admit you most likely are cuter than I and I’m a good lookin’ man! 😃 But, don’t feel like you can’t make meaningful contributions to any thread!
