Question from Mormons: Saint Linus vs. Saint John?

yes, maybe linus was the successor of peter as the leader of the church but the priesthood authority and the keys of heaven wasn’t bestowed unto him by peter because john was still alive and he was the one who has the authority to hold the keys after peter because he was called by Jesus Christ as an apostle.

May I ask how you get this? How do you determine that John automatically would have received the keys after Peter’s death simply because he was an apostle?

That said, I am pretty sure that the Pope would have had authority over even the apostles just as Saint Peter, who indeed was the first Pope, had authority over the other apostles.
