Into how many languages has the Catholic Church translated and distributed the Bible? I have found general statistics (the highest number I saw was 2,572 for at least part of the Bible), but am curious how much of that the Catholic Church is responsible for. How many languages have the whole Bible, both New and Old Testaments, including the deuterocanon?

Also, how many countries has Catholicism come to? Both countries where the church has established herself with at least one local ordinary, and active mission countries.

With regard to your last question, I would be suprised if there were any countries that did not currently have some sort of Catholic presence. But I’ll be following this thread with interest.

Well, for the first question, the best answer I can get is the United Bible Society, which works with the Catholic Biblical Federation and has translated the complete Bible into 469 languages as of 2010. This seems to be an ecumenical effort so no one group can claim “credit.” The “complete” Bible probably means the Protestant canon, I imagine. The 2574 figure was for partial translations, and the complete New Testament is in 1231 tongues. I don’t know if that means modern languages or if they’re counting Koine Greek, Latin, etc. versions.
