Question on Adoration

I don’t know if this question has been covered before if so please tell me again or direct me to the thread.

When we have the Adoration hours from 7;15 A -5;00 p
can we do group rosary recitation out loud.
Some say no and some say yes. What happens is our priest is gone occasionnally on Tuedsday and this is our day. So we have word and communion then at 7 ;30 A because father is not there to do 5;15 mass so then we do our rosary after mass at 8A and some say this shouldn’t be. Because it is suppose to be for each individual to have private quiet adoration.

Last week they had the 7th and 8th grades come in at 8;15 a and sit for a half hour their first adoration. But they neglected to tell them to genuflect on both knees, they did on one, and they brought bibles or prayer books or were told that they could just
pray quietly. We have chairs with kneelers but they didn’t use them ither. My time is 8A- 9A, but some are there 7;15 a- 9;15 A.

What are the rules for prayer in the room. Peace and quiet right?

You are no longer requred to make a genuflection on both knees (Holy Communion and the Worship of the Eucharist outside of Mass #83)

Most people want it quiet for adoration, however there are some groups who prefer to say the rosary etc before the exposed sacrament. We try to schedule a mutally convenient time for their use and keep it silent the rest of the time.

After Saturday mass, we normally recite the rosary & divine mercy chaplet so whenever we have First Saturday Adoration, we do the same. Also, last Saturday I noticed that there were 3 people in the back during the last hour that were praying together, reciting so quietly that I didn’t really even catch what it was. It distracted me for a little bit but then I got over it. But it is normally very, very quiet. Also, I bring prayer books, a bible, holy cards, etc with me, as does most of the other parishoners. Our priest also brings them with him. I’ve never been told that we couldn’t do that.

As far as genuflecting, most in our parish still do on both knees, including our priest, but we have been told that it is not necessary.

these teens are being introduced to this practice and it takes a while to learn, so don’t be hard on them, just thank God for their teachers who see the value of leading them to this practice.

Just because I sign up for the time slot 8-9 am does not make it MY hour, the chapel is for everyone, and my concern is not to interfere with the peace of others using the chapel at this time. Rules should be posted, and if the consensus is that the rosary will be recited at certain times, post that so people have a choice.

Our Adoration Chapel has recently closed. Until another is found, the Church is open for those who want to pray before the Tabernacle. (Send up a prayer that we have a new Chapel soon…)

On Sunday, it was Respect Life Sunday - I planned to take my 5th graders to do Stations of the Cross for the intentions of Life. When we went over to the Church, there was a couple there, obviously praying.

My kids genuflected then we began our SOTC.

After class, I was outside waiting for parents when that couple left the Church. I spoke to them - said “I hope we did not disturb your prayer time” the lady was very kind and said “No, not at all” - and someone else said “it is wonderful to see those kids in the Church praying”.

Those of us who teach kids depend on our fellow Catholics to help teach those Catholic kids.

Hi,

I have been going to Adoration a lot at my church lately, and it is absolutely quiet when I go, no one praying out loud. I am glad no one does that because it is hard to focus in private prayer to God if everyone is praying out loud.
I see a mixture of respect before entering the pew, from bowing, kneeling on one knee, two knees and even prostrate. We have Adoration every Friday from 7:00am- 6:00pm.

I usually bring prayer book and rosary, as do a lot of people.

Our church has other times that groups will say Rosary or Divine Mercy Chaplet.
