I teach 8th grade CCE, and was posed a question about the Our Lady of the Rosary devotion pamphlets in the vestibule. Specifically the meditating on the face of Jesus devotion, the three Hail Marys devotion, and the releasing of 1000 souls from purgatory devotion. I searched the internet, and could not find any solid information saying that it’s ok to do these. I just don’t want to teach the kids something that’s not authorized bt the Church.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I had to do some research but I found some good sources that I believe are credible.

Devotion to the Holy Face - from what I can gather these private revelations were formally approved by the Church (in so far as that is done).

The Three Hail Marys - This most definitely carries an Imprimatur.

The Prayer of St. Gertrude the Great - This is the devotion that carries with it the release of 1000 souls from purgatory. This also has ecclesiastical approval.

I linked to good sources among many that I found and I would not only say that these are good but that it would be commendable for you to teach these to your CCD students.

I have never practiced the Holy Face devotion (which I think comes from St. Therese of Lisieux – somebody correct me if I’m wrong), but the prayer of St. Gertrude would be a great prayer to pray even if it doesn’t release a thousand souls from Purgatory. (It certainly can if God wants it to.) And you really can’t go wrong with three Hail Marys!
