According to this website,
By our consecration we promise to become dependent on Mary in all things: to offer all our prayers and oblations to God through Mary, and to seek every gift from God through Mary.
So, does this mean that if someone were to consecrate him/herself to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, that person is no longer allowed to petition other saints for their intercession? Or could they still do that if they also asked Mary in addition to that other saint?

Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but does that also mean that we’re not allowed to pray directly to God anymore by ourselves?

Thank you.

Answer to your first question: No. A person may petition other saints.
Answer to your second paragraph: No. You may pray directly to God at any time.

What will happen to you if you don’t keep up the consecration? I’m worried now because I’ve done consecrations to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and I think to St. Joseph as well, without knowing what all was entailed before doing so. I want to keep them up but I’m worried all three might be too big of a commitment.

You too! I chose to do the consecration today because it’s the feast of the Immaculate Heart but I don’t think I did it properly. Is it okay to just do it the best I can?

Example for consideration: As a young child you probably made a “consecration” to your own earthly mother. Perhaps not verbally and intentionally, but effectively so – just by your actions… But did that “consecration” mean that you were never allowed to listen to and consult another female teacher, coach, doctor, religious sister, etc. who may want to offer you advice and help?

It seems to me that you could benefit from a good spiritual director with all the questions you have. I think you need some support and guidance in your spiritual life. The trick is getting a good holy priest who can understand your needs. Pray in Jesus’ Name and I’m sure you will find the right person!
