Question regarding the Douay-Rheims at Mass

I know that most of the scripture read throughout Mass is from the NAB, however I was wondering - are there any edition of the book (I don’t know what the name is ) from which the priest that has the DRB translation?

The Scripture that is read THROUGHOUT Mass is in Latin and thus has no translations. What translation he uses OUTSIDE Mass, such as in the homily or sermon, I haven’t a clue.

Should have asked this in the Liturgy forum them.

The answer is that the NAB is the only approved English Language version for use in the United States so no there is no other edition that can be used during the Mass.

It would be an abuse for a priest or anyone else to use a different translation during the Mass.

If one attends a Indult Mass the Scripture most likely is from the Confraternity Edition Old and New Testament which was used prior to the NAB …

Okay thank you. I didn’t quite know that this was only reserved for the TML (I thought Traditional could reference to a NO Mass without abuses).

Actually the translation used for a TLM is a form of the Vulgate - let’s not forget our Latin is a translation, no matter how trustworthy and authoritative.

That is correct. St. Jerome translated from the original Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic, and Latin. Though very scholarly, he was not infallible but nevertheless having a standard accepted by many certainly helps.
