Question to Mormons: Is Islam Christian?

One of the doctrines that is universally accepted as a Christian doctrine is the doctrine of the virgin birth. Roman Catholics believe in the virgin birth. Orthodox believe in the virgin birth. Protestants believe in the virgin birth. Well, Islam also believes in the virgin birth! Islam believes that Jesus is sinless because Original Sin is passed down from father to son, but because Jesus was born of a virgin there was no human father involved. However, Mormons do not believe in the virgin birth, at least not in the same way that Roman Catholics, Orthodox, Protestants, and even Islam believes in it. Mormons believe that there was a human father involved, who had relations with the virgin Mary and was literally the human father of Jesus Christ. So with regard to this one doctrine, the doctrine of the virgin birth, Islam is more Christian than Mormonism is! And so this leads to my question: “Is Islam Christian?”

The main doctrine in Christianity is the Crucifixion, Islam denies that in (Quran 04:157):
“That they said (in boast), “We killed Al-Masih 'Isa the son of Maryam, the Messenger of Allah”; but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not.”

Not to mention the other major contradictions between the two.

I think that Sam is on to something. Islam not only denies the saving work of Christ though his death and ressurection, but also the very crucifixion itself. Mormonism does not.

Now, I would ask what makes JS more acceptable than Muhammed or Ellen White.

No, Islam is not Christian. That does not mean, however, that there are not good Islamic people. Many suffer from the effects of the traditions of their progenitors. The meridian of time Jews included many who had that same issue of following tradition rather than following Him who was the Light of the World. History repeats itself in many ways.

Actually, there are writtings by Mormon leaders as late as the 1950s (I think, maybe later) that say that Jesus was conceived by Mary having literal sex with God the Father. She would still be a virgin to humans, but there was sex involved.

I have heard of that, but never have read the “writings.” That is non-doctrinal speculation. Jesus was the literal Son of God the Father. He certainly had the power to do that in whatever way His will deemed necessary, but Mary was a virgin when Christ was born. This means Christ had power over death, and omnipotence by right of birth as well as by His nature and perfection.

To Islamic who may happen to read this, please think about the meaning of the resurrection for you, through the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ, the literal Son of God. He loves each of you personally because He knows you. Through Him, all humankind will be resurrected. Through Him today, you can find deep solace, comfort, and joy in your life. He offers you that freely. He is more than a prophet. He is the Son of God, the Offspring of Deity, Emmanuel, God with us. He offers peace that surpasses understanding, even perfect peace.

The Koran classifies Christians among those who “associate partners with Allah,” which is the classic definition of “shirk,” the biggest sin that a Muslim can commit. It regards Christianity to be “shirk” because of its belief in the Trinity. It regards considering Jesus to be the Son of God, or being in any way divine, to be equivalent to “shirk”. Mormons believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ, and that His is the Son of God.

Muslims don’t believe in the original sin. Adam (pbuh) forgot the command of God , made a mistake . Adam & Eve ( pbut) repented & God forgave them . We don’t inherit sin because of Prophet Adam’s (pbuh) mistake.

There is verse in Quran where it stated that grandma of Jesus (pbuh) prayed to God to keep devil away from her offsprings. God listened to her prayer. Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) said
( not the exact words) - when a baby is born , devil touches him/her except the case of Mary & Jesus ( pbut) .

we have many things in common . Both Muslims & Christians respect Mother Mary , Jesus & other religious figures like Moses , Abraham , Isacc , David , Solomon (peace be upon them all). We believe in the hereafter , God’s mercy , second coming of Jesus (pbuh) etc etc

May be , at least once a week , we may talk about our similarities & not the differences ??
