I feel like we are on the same path, going in opposite directions.

I wasn’t always Catholic. I was raised with Catholic influences (my father is Polish), but my parents are both atheist. I went to church a bit as a kid, then as a teen discovered paganism. I converted to Catholicism when I was 19. I’m almost 30 (September).

As a kid, I knew there was a God without being told. I felt like there had to be something more, though I struggled to define it. Now, I wonder if there is a higher power that created everything, or if life and everything is just a product of something else we don’t understand.

What scares you more? The fact there is a God and He has a plan or that you maybe forced to make your own?

Neither. I’m not scared of God having a plan for me or me having to make my own. I believe everyone should do their best to be a good person, help others, and try to make the world a better place.

Go ahead then and follow this ‘human solidarity’ idea and do good works. But do not be surprised if the experience leads you closer to God. I’ve seen it happen.

But where do you get this idea that we should try to be good? That notion is one of C.S.Lewis’s arguments for the existence of God.
I have heard him speak to me, and still occasionally have doubts. They are part of the human experience.
If you can wade through this book by Father Spitzer, I think you would find some answers. Based on his science, I find disbelief in God’s existence to be nonsensical.

We all see differently, thats fine. You can believe if there is God or not. I do suffer at times, but what is it to me to put blame in something that you say maybe doesn’t exist? Then who’s fault was it? God isn’t of physical presence, thats where people want to see. People want help from God because they see the evil in this world, clearly if God loved us he would come and rescue us right? But thats when we part ways, I believe that Jesus came to earth in spirit and flesh and risen so that we may go into eternal life. What happens on this earth is because of us and what God is wanting of us is to follow him to go to that eternal life.

But we have freewill, I can do whatever I want, you can also. I believe God lets us, if he didn’t then we wouldn’t truely love him because it would be force. I chose to stay with God when I am happy and when I am not happy, thats not force. I know it ain’t really proving anything. I don’t have proof because I don’t need to see to believe, but I’d thought you would at least want to hear others perspective on it. You are free to think whatever you want. Some people just need to see to believe, that is fine. Just my thoughts for this thread I guess.

What happens on this earth is because of us and what God is wanting of us is to follow him to go to that eternal life.
Because of us… children with cancer, natural disasters, people born blind, parasites… all because of us?

God wants us to follow into eternal life… if that were true we’d already be there, not stuck down here in a valley of tears, pain, sorrow and just pure evil at times. There is no God. On the small chance there is one he can go some place else, not my house. I don’t want to know him.
I don’t have proof because I don’t need to see to believe, but I’d thought you would at least want to hear others perspective on it.
I’ve heard that perspective too many times, it’s completely unconvincing. The fact that you don’t require proof is the reason you’re almost certainly wrong. Even if only statistically speaking, the probability that you’re right is negligible.

Agnostic for lack of a better word. I strongly suspect there is no God, if there is one he’s evil or weak

As humans we must first of all realize that there are things that we just can not understand. Such as: What holds the earth and all the planets in their orbits.
What is magnetism. How does a seed become a plant and produce fruit etc.
Belief in God is one of those concepts. I wondered how God could be eternal or existed forever. Then I wondered if the universe ever ended. If you travel into space, would the universe end, or go on forever. It seemed impossible that it could go on forever, yet if it ended, what was on the other side of the end. You see what I mean. I came to the conclusion that there are things which we just can not understand, but that doesn’t mean that there is no truth or an answer to such questions. We must believe in either creation or evolution. Otherwise where did we and the universe come from. The big bang theory does not explain this in a reasonable way. Even Steven Hawking understood this. see: http://worldnewsdailyreport.com/stephen-hawkins-admits-intelligent-design-is-highly-probable/
