I’m blaming the following questions on lack of sleep lol, I get nosy when I’m tired! Just out of curiosity:

While in confession has your confessor ever asked how many times you committed a sin if you failed to do so?

and…

What form of the Act of Contrition do you use? In Catholic Jr. High, every morning during announcements we said:
Oh my God I love you and because I love you I’m sorry for having offended you. I promise with your help to try to do better and sin no more. Amen.

Maybe I’m strange but I use a longer version when I go to confession because for some reason (don’t know why) I don’t see that one as sufficient even though it pretty much sums it all up.

Lol Sorry guys, like I said, I’m sleep deprived and tend to ask really random questions when I am in this state hehe.

say whatever act of contrition conveys your contrition

confess your sins in kind and number (that can be quantititive )
I stole 6 cars
(or qualitative)
I have not been having sex with animals for 6 months

In 50 years, I have never had a confessor ever ask me how many time I committed a sin.

The Act of Contrition I use is an old one, probably way forgotten by now:

O MY GOD, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because I dread the loss of Heaven and the pains of Hell; but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who art all-good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.
Hi Peary!
I know that exact Act of Contrition! These days I prefer to pray:
Oh MY GOD, I am sorry with all of my heart for having offended thee…
Saying ‘heartily’ almost sounds like hardly 😊

I too have never had a confessor ask me how many times but I have had some ask questions relevant to my sins. Usually I give a very good idea how often I’ve sinned in a particular way. Maybe this helps the confessor know if there is an obsessive compulsive disdorder going on.

I can’t remember what the confessor asked. But I know 2 versions of the Act of Contririon-
  1. ‘O my God I am heartily sorry for having offended thee and I detest my sins above every other evil because they displease thee,my God,who for thy infinite goodness art so deserving of all my love. Therefore I firmly resolve,by thy holy Grace, nevermore to offend thee and to amend my life.’
2.‘O, my God I thank you for loving me.
I am sorry for all my sins.
for not lovoing others and not loving you,
help me to live like Jesus, and not sin again.’

I like both of them.

They are good questions,do not say they are because of lack of sleep.
