I accept all of the following, because the RCC says so and I have blind faith that it happened this way. However, what are the actual arguments behind why these following statements are true?
Explanation: In light of the eternal sacrifice that Christ made on the Cross and the infinite merits of this same sacrifice, God, who exists outside of time as we know it, created Mary without original sin. Since sin and God are mutually exclusive, Mary would have died when the Holy Spirit overshadowed her if she had been born with original sin. Also, she became the second Eve by repairing the damage done by the first Eve by disobedience.
2.Mary Is a perpetual virgin. Mary said “Be it done to me according to your word”, thereby assenting to God’s will. By the overshadowing of the Holy Spirit, Christ was conceived in her womb without spoiling her sacred virginity and it was God’s will that His masterpiece remain without a trace of impurity or sin for eternity. I might also add that she always had complete control of her will she could have sinned but chose not to. She had no inclination to sin because she was untouched by the original sin.
