This may be the wrong place to post this, not sure.

This morning, while getting ready for work, I noticed my wife getting undressed and hopping into the shower. No big deal. Didn’t have any impure thoughts.

On my way to work(30 min drive), I usually don’t listen to the radio or anything, just think about things going on. Well, the image of my wife’s naked body popped into my head. I also started thinking about being intimate with her.

Is this considered “Lust”? I mean, she is MY wife, not like I’m thinking about a co-worker or an actress.Maybe I’m confused with the definition. I dunno!

Desiring your wife is not sinful, nor is thinking about intimacy with her.

Lust is about turning the other person into an object, to try to turn them into something designed simply to satisfy you, rather than a person you are called to love and sacrifice for.

“To lust” is to value a person only in so far as how they may be used as an object towards your sexual gratification.

Having sexual desire towards your spouse is in accordance with God’s design and is not sinful, and is even morally praiseworthy towards the intimacy & mutual goodwill of the marriage. In marriage, this sexual desire is vastly expanded to include a recognition of her as an image bearer of God and a creature of infinite value, whose life you treasure and who you would sacrifice your own life for.

How the word “lust” is commonly used in vernacular speech is different than how the Catholic Church uses lust. In the vernacular, you might say that you "lust after a chocolate bar’ because you desire the chocolate bar. But it is not lust to desire your wife - this would be absurd since it is through the conscious will of God that you desire her, and it is impossible for God to will what is sinful. It is lust if you should desire her only for the value she can offer you as an object.

Dear Josh,
Just keep your seed at home as OT keeps saying. Bad timing for romantic thoughts. Nice that you think of your wife so lovingly. My romance books say at that time when you get to work, you call wife up and say something sweet and romantic, so she has something nice to think about. Then going home is a nice drive. To be young again.

There’s a big difference between desire and lust.

Desiring your wife is certainly a beautiful thing, as you love her. Lust is not kind, it is not love. As others have already pointed out, lust is objectifying a person, desire is wanting to embrace and love your wife whom you’re bound to as one body, one flesh.

So, don’t worry. In fact, share this with your wife along with some flowers, I bet she’ll appreciate it!

It would help if you had marriage instructions. Maybe your parish priest would accommendate you if you asked.

Or get up a little earlier. 😉
chuckles Good advice! 😃

Not lust Op. Love yer wife! I recall Scripture- OT- something about “may the breasts of your wife satisfy you all your days.” Sounds like you are satisfied! 👍
