I’m going to post this again. Is anyone familiar with this, or did I imagine it?
scriptures.lds.org/js_h/1

42 Again, he told me, that when I got those plates of which he had spoken—for the time that they should be obtained was not yet fulfilled—I should not show them to any person; neither the breastplate with the Urim and Thummim; only to those to whom I should be commanded to show them; if I did I should be destroyed. While he was conversing with me about the plates, the vision was opened to my mind that I could see the place where the plates were deposited, and that so clearly and distinctly that I knew the place again when I visited it.

Thanks,

Now, do we know if/when he was “commanded” to show anyone else? Or could it be said that he wasn’t commanded, and that is what ultimately led to his destruction?

At that time yes, he was told not to show them. But later he did. Eight witnesses touched the plates and had a pretty good look at them. Twopekin was still claiming the cloth trick when in fact people eventually saw the plates.

You just need to get the time line right. Eventually there were 11 witnesses who saw the plates.and eight of them actually touched them and saw the characters on the plates.

Diana, your mormon prejudices are flashing like a neon sign. Perhaps you should study, rather than pretend, to know what you are talking about.

Not to mention the diversion, as usual. Someday you might actually address something.
I see. Jerusha commits the fallacies, Stephen goes off the logical rails, you accuse me of being prejudiced and tell me that I should study…rather than ‘pretend.’

Man, did you guys lose this debate or what?

Where did I claim this?

Since there are only a few people discussing on these threads, the subject usually goes around in circles where the usual catholic posters on the mormon threads would repeat something that was proven false again. Nothing is really learned in these discussions because the catholics who are negative toward the lds church can not accept new knowledge. They tend to stick to what works for them.

Sure Diana, you win, you can skip off to the lala land from whence you came.

And then there is whyme, who is a usual poster in the mormon threads, and goes around and around with the rewriting of history and the glossing over of facts. Always trying to recruit people into his heresy. Unable to commit. Unable to be anything, therefore, he is nothing.

Honestly, I don’t get it. Good, solid, committed Catholics get banned from CAF, yet, you remain. Spreading your lies. It must be because you stick to the non-Catholic forum and are not viewed as being Catholic.

What do mormons do when you ask Indians here in North America, and you ask them about horses and steel and such and you ask them if they had it in their history or if they ever saw it and their answer compliments history, that none of it existed before the white man came and any of it that did exist was from Norsemen.
Well now, that depends entirely upon whether the Indian you ask happens to be a Mormon or not.
Man, did you guys lose this debate or what?
