I’ve been looking through iTunes, Napster, and Rhapsody. I want to make a CD of some songs I want. iTunes says you can download MPEG-4 format files. I don’t know about Napster and Rhapsody. I want the best quality files possible so I don’t really want MP3 if I can avoid it.

But I’m wondering if they will be a hassle to use? It says my PC has to be authorized etc. I’m wondering what sites are the best to use and hopefully with not much of a hassel.

I just downloaded my first iTune (25 song 2 CD set for 11.99). I do not know how long it takes to burn a CD from iTunes.

Real Rapshody should be fine. I have that and Itunes. I am going to cancle my real rapshody account tomorrow because I can’t put the songs on my ipod. I know you can import CDs onto itunes and RR. RR isn’t a hassle at all. It’s user-friendly, unlike music match and itunes to some extent. I don’t find itunes impossible, but I think RR was easier.

I don’t find iTunes to be a hassle, I was really glad when their music store finally opened here as well. With iTunes you will set up your account and you may authorise 5 different computers to be able to use that account. I’ve never had the need to use my account on any computer other than this one so it hasn’t been a problem. I’ve not had any problems with the quality either.

I use iTunes and an iPod, I switched from a Creative MPEG player because the Creative software was so bad.

The iTunes software is really good, and once you have downloaded, if you have a CD burner on your PC, you just make a playlist (th list of songs you want on the CD), right click on the playlist name, and select Burn. It takes about 3 minutes or so to burn about a dozen songs, not long at all.

Thank You all for the information. I think RR offers a free trial so I’ll probably check that out if I find iTunes too difficult.

I think the most important issue to consider is compatibility. iTunes has 75% of the online market. They also have a proprietary format that means you can only play their downloaded songs on iTunes or an iPod.

All other online music services are fighting for the rest of the market. The problem there is that the WMA format they use is buggy. That format has many known issues that can prevent you from playing those songs on other portable music players.

Right now, the best choice is to go with iTunes for its reliability and market dominance. Burning to a CD isn’t an issue. It can be done quickly from iTunes. The biggest drawback is the expense of an iPod if you decide you want a portable player.

I’ve found out there is a lot to be said for being able to take my entire 500+ CD collection with me everywhere I go. Then there are podcasts like EWTN’s “Journey Home” that are easier to download and manage through iTunes than any other service.

They are #1 in online music for how easy they make it.

Just a small update, I already bought the songs and made a cd with iTunes. It was very easy. Although I couldn’t find a certain French song and some others. Kazaa doesn’t really have them either.
