Just wondering if anyone has done the Epiphany Door blessing before. I’ve thought about it on several occasions, but could never get enough interest from the extended family to look into the matter.

This year has kinda - changed people’s expectations about alot of things.

So random questions:

1.) Do i need blessed chalk? Do i just go out, buy some chalk, and ask a priest to bless it?

2.) Do I need a priest to do it? (kinda what’s holding up the Enthronement of the Sacred Heart in my household because well… Coivd)…

3.) And on a more personal note - Share a story. Has your family always down the Epiphany Door Blessing? If not - what made you or your family member interested in it/go off and do it for the first time?

I’ve done the door blessing before. We go to a traditional parish and the priest does the blessing of the chalk during the Mass. the parishioners go up and get it after.
You do the blessing yourself, so no need for a visit, although I’m sure he could do it if you really wanted.
We only started doing the blessing when we started attending the Latin Mass. when we went to the OM it wasn’t mentioned and I didn’t even know it existed. We used to get broken into quite a bit, but since we did the initial blessing, we haven’t had an incident. Make of that what you will 😊

I have the Epiphany chalking blessing done each year by a priest, in the 10 day window time frame. I know that some parishes in the surrounding areas provide parishioners the blessed salt and prayer card.

some parishes give out blessed chalk to everyone on Epiphany.

Otherwise, you can simply buy some and have a priest bless it.
