How did you choose which devotions to practice?

Do you have more than one daily devotion?

Do you practice your devotions at set times each day?

How do you know when a devotion is not necessarily “right” for you?

I chose them over time.

The miraculous medal I received in Grade School. The rosary was part of our family prayer after dinner. The divine mercy chaplet appealed to me much later which I thought the Mass was in a small prayer. I was very much a senior when I started the divine office, which the church herself encourages. And I consider the sacraments much more then devotions. Other ordinary prayers I don’t consider devotions because they are just part and partial of our life with God.

The divine office is designed to be prayed at different parts of the day.
And other ordinary prayers are to be said at certain times.
But the devotional prayers are said every day whenever I have time, or when I need to pray.

I can’t say that I have felt that any of them were not right. Although meditation is not a devotional prayer, I have made some changes in that.

My personal opinion about devotional prayer is to follow Mary for she is our mother and knows what is important, along with our church, who is also our mother and knows what is best. Any devotion that is addressing the heart, blood, body, of Jesus would also be at the top of devotional prayer.
