How do we combat religious fanaticism? Why are some holding back their tongues to/and allow the carnage and terror (in the name of God) to continue whilst others are doing everything they can, yet are targets for criticisms themselves? What can religious leaders do to work together to fight terrorism?

If you must, you may quote from intellectuals - scholars, religious leaders, politicians, and discuss on them. I have also set up a petition online: petitiononline.com/152008/petition.html

Please sign the petition and pass it on to your friends, colleagues and family members. Tell your parish priests, ministers, imams and involve your community. Nothing is silly if the cause is noble and benefits everyone of every religion on earth. So please try and put our biases aside and help spread the word.

Sorry cathopologist to tell you, it won’t work, you are saying:
“We should no longer keep silent on those who kill in the name of God and appear as though it was consented.”

But (Quran 09:29) is saying:
“Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the Religion of Truth, from among the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.”

Even the recent infra-faith meeting didn’t do anything useful, I think if something to happen, then we should ask all those religious leaders this question:
If you have discovered (in one way or another) that your religion is false, would you abandon it?

If all of them replied by “Yes”, then I think we can go another step further.

P.S., why there are no Jewish leaders in your letter?
 
The petition is not a guarantee of any sorts but rather a plea to religious leaders to step up to the plate. I’m not saying they have’nt been doing anything but rather take a more aggressive attitude towards excommunicating dissents of their respective faiths.

Intra-faith meetings are not about creating a false sense of unity but understanding the religions they profess from their perspective. Religious leaders can cooperate with one another for the common good - to eradicate extremism and biases, but nobody is forcing anyone to yield their faith for something better.

My apologies, i suppose i forgot to mention the Jewish leaders, but they are not entirely left out either, since i did mention the terms, ‘siruv’ and ‘cherum’ in the letter.
