My non-Catholic friend is going to Mass with me 8.5 hours from now and I can’t find an answer to this question: Can he bless himself with holy water as he enters the church?

Yes he can bless himself with holy water becuase that is a sacramental (like rosaries, ashes, palms, medals, crucifixes etc) which anyone can recieve.
