A quick question from someone investigating the Catholic Faith. In joining the church must someone accept all non-essential teachings or just essential teachings ? Also is the title of Pope John Paul as “Holy Father” an essential teaching? I am not asking this to be silly, I honestly do not know. Thanks

No, but the core teaching that he is the Successor of Peter and holds the Petrine Office is.

Basicaly what is in the Catechism of the Catholic Church is essential to claiming the name “Catholic”. Read the document at the front of the Catechism “Fidei Depositum”.
