Hi I’m new to the faith.I’m trying to quit cusing. But sometimes if I’m mad I slip and say one.I always correct myself.is this a mortal sin.thank you
You can change that bad habit by saying something else, like “Yikes” or “wow”. It is possible to change bad habits…you have to want to for the love of God. Ask for His help, he won’t refuse.Hi I’m new to the faith.I’m trying to quit cusing. But sometimes if I’m mad I slip and say one.I always correct myself.is this a mortal sin.thank you

*What I do, I do not understand. **For I do not do what I want, but I do what I hate. *Now if I do what I do not want, I concur that the law is good. So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. For I know that good does not dwell in me, that is, in my flesh. The willing is ready at hand, but doing the good is not. For I do not do the good I want, but I do the evil I do not want. Now if do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. So, then, I discover the principle that when I want to do right, evil is at hand. For I take delight in the law of God, in my inner self, l but I see in my members another principle at war with the law of my mind, taking me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Miserable one that I am! Who will deliver me from this mortal body? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Therefore, I myself, with my mind, serve the law of God but, with my flesh, the law of sin. Rom. 7:15-25Colossians 3:8 KJV
But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
Really, only mortal sins MUST be confessed. But it is always a good idea to confess the venial ones especially if that sin is something you are having a hard time with. Jesus and the priest can help you out in confession.**I would not consider this a mortal sin. However all sins no matter how small need to be confessed. I too struggle with my anger…and I am one to use many bad words in my day. It is a constant struggle to refrain from this language both verbally and just internally thinking it. I have found that asking the Trinity to help with my anger and to help me to refrain from thinking and saying the bad words have helped a lot over the years.
Good Luck and God Bless You! **
