There’s a quote from Wm. F. Buckley, Jr. that I read a long time ago. It went something like, “Deny everything even if you’re guilty, because eventually people will start to believe you…” but I can’t remember the rest of it and can’t find it online.

Does anyone have any clue what the quote is?

I’ve done a search and can’t find anything connected directly to Buckley. However, Lenin said, “A lie told often enough becomes the truth”.

That doesn’t sound like Buckley at all. He said things like:
Truth is a demure lady, much too ladylike to knock you on your head and drag you to her cave. She is there, but people must want her, and seek her out.
I would like to take you seriously, but to do so would affront your intelligence.
I profoundly believe it takes a lot of practice to become a moral slob.
