If one quotes Scripture, do they need to say like where in the Bible it’s from and what edition etc. etc. etc.

I’ve suffered from scrupulosity before and still probably do sometimes, so I get worried about like copyright laws and stuff like that. But, say for instance I quote from Scripture in a post, do I need to give credit to it’s source?

Thanks if anyone can help

It would be helpful of course, and necessary in many instances especially in Apologetics-oriented discussions, to cite the particular book, chapter and verse so that others with their Bibles on hand can immediately verify and study it for themselves.

I think it’s also a good idea to mention which version, as different versions may read a verse differently. I was looking at Proverbs 23:7 the other day. Seven different versions translated it seven different ways! (the notes in a couple of them said that the Hebrew was obscure, which may account for the differences).
