Which is a better spelling of the word? My history teacher told me that Koran was more correct, or something like that. Just curious and thought I’d ask.
 
In Arabic alphabet, since there are two letters that have similar pronunciation ( one us Kaaf and the other is Qaaf ) and the word Quran starts with letter Qaaf, so it is most appropriate to use the letter Q intead of K. Therefore the closest rendering in English would be Quran and not Koran.
 
Yes, Qur’an is more directly translated. However Koran is easier to pronounce and read.

In all honesty it doesn’t really matter as long as we know what you’re talking about.
