My brother just called and told me a horror story that came from his friends R.C.I.A. meeting that he went to last night. This sister ran the meeting and said so many wrong things that we teach, his friend stood there with his mouth dropped open. Any way he’s trying to get a bunch of documents and things together to show some people at the next meeting. The only one He’s lacking is about women deacons in the early church. One of the church’s first councils made it clear they were not ordained women. Any one out there no which council this was. Maybe a web site I can go to print out a document from that council about the women not being ordained etc. etc… Thankyou

That’s good, but i’d like to know the exact council council that declared this and exactly what was said.

Check the Council of Laodicea in 360 A.D. writings on the subject, or maybe someone more familiar with this here will post a good summary for you.

Penitent

Canon 19 of the First Council of Nicea (AD 325) reads in part: “We have made mention of the deaconesses, who have been enrolled in this position, although, not having been in any way ordained, they are certainly to be numbered amon the laity.”
