Matthew 5:22 “But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.” (NIV)

Little used today, the term Raca was a term of contempt meaning someone was empty or worthless. Basically they are no good for just existing. I came across this passage again not too long ago in a Bible study I teach just while people were hammering President Trump. It prompted some discussion. I wanted to bring it up here for the same reason.

Now, as we look at the majority of the press operating under the philosophy of “how can we report this in a negative light about Trump”, we can easily see they are operating under the concept of Raca. Their objective is to separate the Presidents supporters from him or just get the Administration chasing so many rabbit trails they can’t move the agenda forward. It appears to be working.

My question though, is I’ve also heard / read a lot of Christians seeming to have the same philosophy. They appear to have no shortage of vitriol and little regard for the above passage.

I invite your thoughts.

Well, not to change the subject entirely but I see this mindset in society today. Specifically in regards to the handicapped and elderly. I view it as the return of a eugenic mindset. Handicapped infants are aborted the most. And the elderly and infirm are increasingly being told they could end it all by euthanasia.

It’s a thoroughly depressing subject and perhaps the most important topic right now. Because if the most vulnerable people on earth can be targeted for elimination and no one thinks twice, nothing is safe. God help us.
