There was no global flood. There is zero evidence for such an event and it would be impossible as it is described in Genesis. There probably was some sort of regional flood that gave rise to the Noah mythology, there may have even been an actual Noah. But, the Genesis account as far as the size of the ark, the number of animals, the length of the flood, etc. would be utterly impossible. It’s an allegorical tale.
There is a catholic geologist here that defended me for utterly rejecting a literal understanding of a world wide flood event based on the narrative. My reason for holding that view is the lack of geological evidence for such an event.

I do realize that catholic believers are free to accept the literal account if it aids their spirituality, but are also free to utterly reject it as a literal account.
There may be other believers that have this option, and many that do not and must accept the literal reading of text.

Hoping other believers will answer too. Muslims, Jewish believers, Pantheists, whatever.

I’ve come to hate rainbows. I always think there’s a gay pride parade coming when I see them.?
Yanno…I think that rainbow imagery is getting a bit tired, and maybe they need some new branding. But it doesn’t really bother me.

THIS video does, however. Its enough to put me off rainbows for years to come:

Double Rainbow Guy

As for antediluvian (🤓 I don’t get many chances to use that word. :o), rainbows,
I must admit, its not something I have ever thought about. I think I’ll leave it to smarter people than me to figure it out. 😊

There were rainbows before the Flood.:twocents:

It was after the Flood that God made the rainbow a sign of His love & care.:twocents:

The Flood was not worldwide in the sense of being** global**; it was worldwide in the sense of destroying the entire known world of Noah’s time.:twocents:

It was also a whole lot longer ago than Standard YE Creationist Rhetoric would have us believe.:sad_yes:

Ken [insert puking smiley] Ham & the Answers In Genesis people now believe that I am going straight to hell in a handbasket. :sad_yes:
I think they are all of them [insert gravelixes here] wee :whacky::whacky::whacky:s.

I hope I did not come across as trying to set a trap or egar to pounce on anyone holding a differing opinion, no matter the size of it.

And, I do thank you for the time you put into your answer. It certainly does give me more information than I had before.
Your poll is fairly straightforward. It just reminded me of this far-out but fairly complete theory that I thought might add to the conversation but that I wouldn’t answer any comments on.

Only Dale_M’s avatar makes me concerned about pouncing. But then I remember I’m not a mouse (despite my fondness for cheese). 😃

Another random thought (this one is my own so I’m willing to discuss it further):

Perhaps God created color vision sometime during the flood events so that humans could finally see and enjoy the rainbow. It seems more likely to me than God taking Physics back to the drawing board.

Look - most of the colors in one emoticon :grouphug:

Ahhh…you mean like “evolution”.😃

I’m just kidding, Dale. I think the rainbow looks awesome. I kid around with the gay thing LOL…But I sure agree with you that they need a new symbol. Maybe the could have a rocketman with a jet pack a la Elton John! 😛

yeah - but I spinelessly said it in such a way that a literalist-creationist type could be able to buy it. :juggle:

I sincerely doubt my theory will become scholarly (and pray that it doesn’t - but at least this board is quasi-anonymous so I don’t have to worry about being burnt at the stake - the occasional flame is bad enough)
