I tried to, just to see if anyone can really change their sexual orientation.

NO. i just find it impossible to get attracted to a fellow dude. 🤷
The point was not to change your sexual orientation but just to admit you have a homosexual thought.

Chastity and homosexuality

2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,141 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."142 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.

Correct me if I’m wrong. But after reading the above from the CCC, it isn’t the ā€œthought,ā€ but the ā€œactā€ that is sinful. The thoughts are ā€œdisorderedā€ or not following God’s Natural Law.

That’s why, ā€œThey must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.ā€

They are fighting the thoughts to keep them from committing a sinful act. Right?
You don’t think thoughts are places of sin? You sin in your thoughts and words and deeds. You even say that in Church. Jesus even says, it is what comes out of your mouth that will defile you. You can’t think without something coming out of your mouth. Try it.

You can’t think without something coming out of your mouth??? Anyways. So according to you, acknowledging that another man is attractive, even without lust, is still a homosexual thought and that thought is sinful? Maybe you can clarify in CCC 2357-2359 where it says that a homosexual thought is a sin. Disordered, but not a sin.

I’ll include this response from Fr. Serpa to a recent post.
Dear friend,
You are a person who has same sex attraction. It is something you have; it is not something that you are. The Lord has called you to follow Him and you are responding. You say that you are still into guys, meaning that you are still sexually attracted to men. This is a cross that the Lord has asked you to carry. But it does not define who you are. The Lord’s relationship with you is what defines who you are. Center your life on Him and you will have no reason to fear falling into temptation. Start spending regular time with Him before the tabernacle. He seeks intimacy with you. Reflect on His Passion and all that He endured for you and thank Him. I am putting a reflection below to help you focus. You are in our prayers. Welcome home!

O a woman. I know women. They’re always sizing eachother up. Looking at eachothers hair, face, breasts, butt, legs, bodies. Ever find a woman attractive? I know you have. There’s your homosexual thought. You’ve probably and most likely had other homosexual thoughts besides those thoughts but have repressed them due to your homophobic behavior.

Finding the same sex attractive is homosexual.
Apparently, you are unaware that not everything in life is viewed in a sexual manner. One can notice that someone is a good-looking person, man or woman, without feeling desire for that person.

Not everyone has to be defined by their sexuality, but it seems homosexuals want to define themselves by what they do in the bedroom and also share that with the entire world, have it accepted and embraced by the entire world. That is odd.

Homophobic behavior? What is that? I honestly don’t give homosexuals and lesbians much thought in my day to day life. If they weren’t always in the news, I probably generally wouldn’t give them any thought at all. There is a family connection, and once in a long while that is an issue, but it isn’t something I give much thought until I have to deal with that.

Finding another man attractive, if you are a man, is homosexual. Why find the man attractive at all? If you were pure heterosexual then why would you do that? I’ll tell you why, because of concupiscence. It is present within your sexuality. You may not think it is lust after a man but it sure ain’t something pure. You have homosexual thoughts and since you are uncomfortable with that notion you will deny it completely.
No, it isn’t. That is absurd. Not everyone views everyone else in a sexual manner. Simply noting that someone is an attractive person does not automatically define someone as homosexual or even define one as suffering with same sex attraction.

In some cases, finding someone of the opposite sex to be attractive could be due to same sex attraction, but even that doesn’t make that person homosexual. A homosexual is someone who acts on attraction, engages in sex acts with someone of the same sex. Engaging in actual sex acts with someone is quite far removed from simply noting that someone is a good-looking person.

So, are you saying a homosexual man doesn’t find some women pretty or attractive? Because if a homosexual does find a woman to be pretty, attractive, in great shape, whatever, by your reasoning, that means he is actually heterosexual. Right?

No I’m here to prove your homosexual tendencies. So you can most likely repress your homosexuality, however, it is in your sexual nature to have such thoughts. That makes you as homosexual as a homosexual. You just inhibit parts of your sexuality and bring out other parts based societal pressure. Its natural to be attracted to the same sex, to varying degrees, which places you not far from a homosexual.

If you are homosexual for a brief moment then you have committed the same sin that a homosexual has committed in their lifetime. So you’re guilty, yet, you condemn a homosexual when you should be condemned yourself.
I know that any sexual sins I have committed have been of the heterosexual variety.

Sin is sin. Grave sin of the heterosexual variety is as damning as sin of the homosexual variety and both condemn the sinner. Every sinner will have to answer to God.

Something really funny just happened to me.

I was just reading this thread from where I had left off, and seeing all of Sacred Heart’s responses, and was already hitting the multiple quote button to make a lengthy response to each post, when I saw Swizzle Stick had already done so and said almost all of what I was about to say!

Talk about working up your brain to do something and then discovering it’s already been done.

Thanks Swizzle! Haha! šŸ‘šŸ‘

You’re welcome. šŸ™‚

Please feel free to go ahead and respond. I would appreciate the support. I know I don’t articulate things very well. Also, initially I wasn’t going to respond at all because the assertions are so absurd, but decided to just go ahead and did so without much thought. I’m sure you will do a better, more articulate job than I did to refute the posts.

All right then, I’ll have a try. 😊

Hey Sacred Heart,

I read through the thread and decided not to reply to every single point, but rather to the crux of the matter.

I quote from your original post:
It is natural for sexual beings to explore their sexuality, most definitely. My question to you, have you ever had a homosexual thought during that lifetime of sexuality?
To this statement I asked you what you meant by exploration of sexuality, and you answered clearly what you knew it was:
If someone becomes sexual then that naturally progresses into a sexual identity and sexual experience. Someone isn't sexual and then has no sexual experience. The sexual experience (not the precise act); but the sexuality is gained through time and space, through life. You experience your first kiss--that is an exploration of sexuality. You have thoughts about sex--that is an exploration of sexuality. Anything that has to do with your sexuality is an exploration. You continually explore, trying to feel the emotions you want to feel and experience you want to experience. And its not all about sexual intercourse.
So you say that "Anything that has to do with your sexuality is an exploration," and "trying to feel the emotions you want to feel and experience you want to experience." Seeing this, I can conclude, from a Catholic viewpoint, that it is probably NOT "natural" (as you said) to explore your sexuality going by this definition. Depending on the degree to which you are doing it, either you are "overexploring" or rather perverted.

So now I come to the top of the matter. I think you are rather hyper-focused on sexuality in general, and homosexuality in particular. I think that your mind is racing over a lot of ideas in this topic, and you are trying to find fulfillment by speaking your ideas.

But a good deal of your ideas are either contrary or scraping along the side of Church teaching. It is not homosexual to find, in passing, another man's shapely body impressive or attractive (if you are a man) or to do the same to a woman if you are a woman. This becomes sinful AFTER you give in to a temptations and ideas that consist of actually taking action on your fantasies, or having and fueling deeply erotic thoughts in your mind.

I want to have some more direct conversations with you through this thread, another, or pm, but please understand that I don't want to fight you, but rather help you realize the true purpose of sexuality and the place of it in this world.

God bless! :console:

That’s a loaded statement. One can find a body visually appealing and have no sexual urge toward them.

Your statement suggests that any male who admires, say, Michelangelo’s male nudes, is homosexual.

Finding a man or woman attractive is not a sin. The thoughts following seeing such a person determines sin or not.

If I see a beautiful woman and think to myself that she’s beautiful. That is not a sin…if I think about how I’d love to look like her…that would be a sin though not sexual sin.

If I see an attractive man and think to myself how good looking he is that is not a sin…if I start to think about what I’d like to do with him sexually…that would be a sin.
