Well it’s just that your post came off in the same condescending stripe as those who think people who discuss pop culture references are somehow less inclined towards faith.

Quite frankly, this sort of trend has done more to crack a faith than anything popular media could ever throw at the Church. I’ve long admitted that the question of the OP is a little out there but I don’t see why people shouldn’t try to have a discussion.

Well you could’ve said this rather than use the same words used by a lot of preachy grade school teachers I had to grow up in a Catholic school.

I am sorry my reply was not up to your standard and led you to judge and assume something I did not mean. Perhaps you were just looking for a fight? I have no beef with you. I do think that pop culture is part of the world we live in. I also think it is completely and ridiculously self masturbatory and secular.

Nevertheless I do indulge in more than my fair share…

Now, Do you have a thought on the Zombie phenomenon and Catholicism? I would love it hear it!

Indeed!

The different sorts of zombies really fascinate me because people don’t really look twice at how each differently interacts with Church teachings on the sacredness of the body, culpability in the matter of handling corpses, the definition of a human being etc, etc.

For instance, we don’t frown upon organ donation but what about willingly offering dead bodies as infantry? Is there a Just War or self-defense clause somewhere when a man uses the corpses of fallen foes to end a conflict before it escalates further?

What if there’s no demonic force involved in necromancy? What if it’s similar to sci-fi in that zombies are merely moved by artificial forces/energies to perform specific functions?

Not a crazy idea.
Zombies are theoretically dead human beings, which are made in the image of God. And watching them get slaughtered does. probably, desensitize us to violence and killing.
I think you mean “subconsciously” or perhaps “subliminal”.
I watched the first season of the Walking Dead as it was recommended by my son, and it was okay, since I like apocalyptic and dystopian tales. But it just got too bloody for me. And really, what’s entertaining about watching someone kill their previously loved familiy member? There’s no realism about it at all. Nobody except insane people act that way.
I submit that we need healthy role models, and not so much that’s dehumanizing in our entertainment.

In a sense, the zombie apocalypse WILL happen…when Jesus resurrects everyone that has ever died and suddenly we have ‘undead’ walking around everywhere!!

But I doubt they will go about attacking and eating the living, but I do wonder about those brought back that have been or destined for Hell will be like…surely they will be not be peaceful and nice. It will be interesting to see how the glorified interact with the living at the time.

Plus one has to wonder what the world will look like when this happens, I mean, think about how many people that will be…maybe close to 100 trillion, or more? WOW that is alot of people!
