Well, given that it’s the principle underlying the rest of your response, why wouldn’t it be fair game to test that reasoning? As for my own wording…I am a fallible creature and I figure I might as well be upfront about it when I’m speaking from my own opinions instead of scripture, hence the wording I gave

At any rate…on the issue of rapture, I don’t correct belief on it as a matter of salvation, some of us may be surprised when it comes sooner than we expect or doesn’t come at all, but I don’t think that God will turn away those seeking Him because they were mistaken of this matter.

Personally, I think Tim LaHaye is a joke. He has made millions off of a myth, and then called people who questioned him delusional and dishonest historians. A careful, honest, and objective look at eschatology would show him that he is wrong.

Since the ability to explain it is limited here, can you point me to a source that will explicitly explain the rcc’s position on the “end times”?

You may want to grab a copy of Beginning Apologetics 8, “The End Times.” I know you can get it from Amazon, but it’s also available in the Catholic Answers bookstore. The entire series is excellent, though quite basic. I use it as the basis for my parish apologetics class, and I’m starting book 8 in January.

There are also (at least) two books on the topic by reliable Catholic apologists - “Will Catholics Be Left Behind” by Carl Olson (I read it last Christmas and can’t recommend it highly enough), and “The Rapture Trap” by Paul Thigpen (which I’ve just ordered in preparation for my class on the topic).

Well, the Catholic Church has not given its own complete interpretation of Revelation. It’s actually stated very little about what any of it means. So when I talk about end times speculation, I usually just refer to the Bible, since there’s not much else to go on in that area. Hope that clarifies.

Agreed on the second point. I doubt we’re expected to correctly interpret any end-times passages or else be abandoned. Jesus probably would have focused on it a bit more.
