I heard that good works are required to begin the RCIA program, so you have to show your worthiness to enter the church. Is this true?
Thought so. Thanks. No, it is not true. To enter the RCIA program all you need is a desire to learn more about the Catholic Church and an open mind to her teaching.
from whom did you hear this misinformation? Why not call the parish closest to you, speak with the pastor or his delegate, and find out the truth about the great journey known as RCIA? Yes as part of your preparation you will be invited to join in the work of the parish and wider Church through her ministries and apostolates, especially to the poor, but it is not a requirement for any sacrament. It is an invitation which echoes Christ’s invitation in the gospel. And yes every Christian is called to “do good works”. Read the beatitudes and the judgement of the nations in Matthew’s gospel. Matt 5:1-12, Matt 25:31=46I heard that good works are required to begin the RCIA program, so you have to show your worthiness to enter the church. Is this true?
That’s a negative, ghostrider. Some programs are more rigorous than others (ie, textbook and all) and it’s not unusual for 8th graders who are being confirmed after sitting in PSR or CCD for 7 years to do a service project. However, I’ve never known an RCIA program to require any ‘proof’ in the form of good works.I heard that good works are required to begin the RCIA program, so you have to show your worthiness to enter the church.
