RCIA and Impatience!

Good afternoon-
I am currently in RCIA and was wondering for those who have been through it before if they were as impatient as I am?!?! I know that I should enjoy this time as a period of spiritual growth and prayer, etc but it is just so frustrating to have to wait! God is certainly worth it! But I long to receive the Eucharist. I am counting down the days until the Easter Vigil. Almost feels like waiting for a baby to be born! Does anyone have the same experience? Even if not, would you please pray for myself and my daughter (who is in RCIC) as we journey together? Thank you so much!

Stephanie, yes, I felt that way too, especially in the beginning. After a really great weekend retreat that my parish requires all who are in RCIA to attend, I had a real change of heart on it and I was able to appreciate and enjoy the time in RCIA. Praying for you and your daughter.

From the title I thought you were going to say they were impatient with you! I have young friends in RCIA; a cohabitating couple with little kids and they said “We HAVE TO get married really soon. The priests are really getting on us about it.”

When I converted, years before RCIA, it took me a full year of weekly lessons. And even then the priest was thinking I should wait a little longer!

Welcome home! I know how you feel I was in RCIA FOR A YEAR AND A HAlf! It is worth the wait. Focus this time on learning the faith and getting involved in the parish and it will fly by. Especially now. We have advent, Christmas then almost right into lent and a number of rites you will go through on the way to the Vigil!

I felt just like you As others have said it’s eternity your prepping for so take your time, savor it. Ask as many questions as you can especially if the teacher is a priest, it’s hard to get that kind of access to them again as they’re very busy.
