Hi everyone! I’m in RCIA and wonder how many of you out there are also on the journey??!!

I LOVE Catholic Answers!

Hope to hear some replies!

Hello…been there…done that…God Bless you. You are on the best journey of your life. I have never done anything better in my life than RCIA…it is the best.

Me too! I love it. I really enjoy going to church. I wish I could attend more. My husband and I only have 1 car right now. He works full time, and goes to school full-time. So car use for me is limited. I also love this forum. Find out anything you didn’t know before?

I am! I don’t post a lot here, but I read nearly everyday…I’ve found many excellent resources posted here to supplement my RCIA classwork…I come here to get answers when our program has glossed over something, or not answered my questions…

Great !!

Best Thing I could have ever done, and this forum is a good source of aid and comfort.
Bless You.👍 :tiphat:

I’m currently in RCIA as well 👋. I’m really enjoying the whole experience. We’ve been off for a couple of weeks for Christmas, and I really miss it! I’ve been doing extra reading in the meantime. The more I read and learn, the more I want to know!

I completely agree with everyone else who expressed their joy and excitement with the process. I’m 50 years old, baptized a Presbyterian, but never had much to do with faith or church until last May, when I had a conversion experience during a funeral Mass for my father-in-law in New Jersey. I anxiously awaited the start of the RCIA in September, and have enjoyed every minute of it. I have been attending Mass at least weekly with my “cradle Catholic” wife, as well as reading many books and Internet articles about the faith, including the Catechism and, of course, the Bible, ever since my visit from the Holy Spirit last spring. It’s hard to describe how much I am looking forward to the Easter Vigil, and entering full communion with the Church. We resume our RCIA meetings tonight after our Christmas hiatus, and I can’t wait!

I never thought I would feel this excited about church, it wasn’t a big part of my life growing up, but in the last few years we’ve been attending weekly. Last spring I started thinking about converting, and the more I thought about it, the more excited I was for it. For the first time I FELT it, I was a bit nervous about calling and joining RCIA, and now I think it is the best thing I’ve ever done. Now I’m excited for weekends not because they are days ‘off’ but because I can attend Mass AND RCIA.

I was born and raised catholic, but I’m taking RCIA just to learn more about the Faith and to support my peers who are entering the Catholic religion. It’s amazing what you can learn and the best part about it is that everything you learn is the full, 110% truth.

God Bless all who are going through this journey!

RCIA is the Rite of Christian Intiation for Adults. It is for adults wishing to join the faith who have not been baptized or received the sacarements of confirmation and Eucharist. Or it is for anyone who not been baptized. I went through the class myself in 1994 and am now part of our parish RCIA team.

Oh me too! I have been positively bereft the last couple of weeks not having the opportunity to get together. Like you I am doing extra reading. As I read additional things I want to discuss them with the RCIA team and my friends on the journey. I have a long list of questions for this week’s meeting!

I would like to thank you for your time and dedication. Our RCIA team is just the BEST. They give up so much time and they give up the Eucharist while we are doing the dismissal. May all of your on RCIA teams be blessed.

Lisa - I am sure the members of your team don’t feel as though they are giving up anything. It truly blesses me to see to spirit work in our candidates & catechumates. Every year I learn so much. I group actually meets on Monday evenings so we don’t have a dismissal of the group. That works out well for us.
I wish you and everyone on this journey of faith all the best and may God Bless you!

Last year I went through the RCIA process. This year I am on the Team. 👍

Can’t get enough 😃

A great journey to be on. The trip lasts a lifetime. :bounce:

I came Home November 28. 2004. I was conditionally baptised, confirmed, (received the Sacrament of Matrimony too) and received first Holy Communion.

My journey lasted for 1 3/4 years. It’s not a smooth road for most people. Expect bumps in the road and frustration. But there is a great reward in the end when you are invited to The Lord’s Table.

May God bless you on your Journey. :blessyou:

Well I think they are a wonderful and dedicated group to sacrifice part of Mass for us, plus we meet on Thursday nights as well. So I appreciate your comments as I am just so appreciative of the time and commitment of our RCIA team. As someone who was very nervous about this big change in my life, I felt right at home with both the team and my fellow candidates/catechumates. I’m heading there in about half an hour!

👋 It’s so good to hear all the responses! I’ve missed going to classes over the holidays!

My husband is a Catachumen and I’m a Candidate. We have an exchange student living with us who is from Japan and she is Catholic…she’s our little angel, she goes with us to our meetings and helps us.

Could any of you enlighten me. I tell myself every day that I’m going to ask a blessing before my meals. I know it sounds tiny in the big world of things, but it’s just something I can’t seem to remember until AFTER I’ve eaten. My family never did it growing up and I just can’t seem to get into the habit. Anyone else out there run into this? Maybe there’s something I could read so I could really appreciate it more?

Thanks!
M

M- There is a prayer for after meals as well. I will find it and post it for you. God knows your heart and I think that is really what matters, that you are thankful. Peace and God bless you and your husband on this marvelous journey!
