Hi there… I start my rcia inquiry class tomorrow for the first time. I’m wondering I was baptized when I was younger but that church said they don’t have proof of it now… how would that effect me at the end of my journey to converting to catholism?

Hi April and welcome!!
If for some reason no proof of baptism is found, you will have what is known as a conditional baptism.

So, no worries. If, thru you RCIA experience you find yourself to come into communion with the Catholic Church, that will not be an obstacle

You say you were baptized when you were younger. How much younger? Is it something you remember, or did it happen when you were a baby? Were your parents there or perhaps other people who can attest to what happened?

As was said above, this is something to discuss with your RCIA director.

The pastor and the RCIA team should be the people you speak with, as they should be familiar with possible alternatives.

Were there any witnesses who would be available to state that you were baptized?

I was 9 or 10. I had called the church before where it was done and they had said they have no record of it ever taken place.

All obstacles will be overcome.
Welcome to the Catholic Church!!! 🙏🙏🙏
