Ignatius Press’ catalog advertizes an set of RCIA materials published by the Association for Catechumenal Ministry (ACM) ed. by Barabra A. Morgan and William J. Keimig. The set includes some 380 handouts and teacher manuals, etc.

Has any one ever used this series? I usually trust Ignatius Press, but just was wondering (they sell this set, but they did not publish it).

I use other resources, but am always looking for good supplemental resources.
thanks

I have never seen their materials. But I understand that ACM is an alternative organization to the North American Forum on the Catechumenate. Which I am a member of, but seems to have become very liberal with it’s liturgical practices and materials.

The amcrcia is the cream of the crop for orthodox, dynamic presentations on the Catholic Faith. They are affiliated with ‘The Sower’ journal for catechetics, Franciscan University of Steubenville and Maryvale in the UK…
Barabara Morgan is a master catechist, she is currently working on a book with Cardinal Schonborn related to curriculum and content and methods in teaching the CCC.

Those are some good credentials… that sells me enough to check it out. Thanks Franciscan!

ACM is the gold standard for RCIA resources. Came out of office of catechetics at Steubenville, brainchild of now retired director Barbara Morgan and Deacon Ray, who established the RCIA track within that dept. and for summer catechetical conferences. They are globally exponentially better than the competition. Great news is that they are now also offering formation for RCIA team members, so NAFC no longer has a lock on this area. The course materials are distributed through ltp.org, liturgical training publications, but produced by Prof. Morgan and her team, who are IMO bar none the best source of orthodox catechetical materials and formation in the country.

I ordered this series this week. Maybe after putting it to use I will post a review for the benefit of other RCIA-ers on this board.

I have been using ACM for our RCIA for the last two years. It’s simply wonderful. There are handouts for just about every topic one could think of and all referenced to Scripture and the Catechism. Every handout is faithful to the teachings of the Church. Great outlines for the catechists in helping to prepare for the teachings are included in the manual for catechists. Another great feature is that all the handouts are included on a CD so you can just copy them from your computer. I can’t recommend ACM highly enough.

Can’t speak more highly of them. First class, totally orthodox, even beautiful, and massive in quantity, superb in quality. I use the lesson plans to prepare for our sessions, however we also use Ligouri Journey of Faith handouts and it’s own leader’s manual as well. We do this cuz our outgoing RCIA leader is accustomed to using Ligouri and I brought in ACM with great reluctance from him. Since he’s our outgoing RCIA leader emeritus, out of respect and gratitude for his years of service, we defer to him and simply “added” ACM material to the sessions, which he has grown to really appreciate. What also happened is I grew to appreciate the quality of the Ligouri Journey of Faith handouts. They make for good homework for them, making them use their Bible and CCC, and make for good talking points for sharing. I have no issues at all with the Ligouri stuff, even if light, since we expand on the topics in session. In fact, I’ve so grown to like the Ligouri stuff, and may even keep this current format of combining both Ligouri and ACM.

BUT if I could have only one it would be ACM, no question.

Our Parish has used ACM for two years now - it gets 👍 👍 👍

You will want to buy big 3" binders for all the RCIA students, because they will recieve a wealth of handouts!

How ironic you bring that up. We (catchists & candidates) last nite were joking about their need for bigger binders and our gross underestimation of binder size needed. :o
