For those of you trying to navigate through all the particulars of being involved in implementing the RCIA, I highly recommend this site:

acmrcia.org/

The RCIA is a work of the Holy Spirit. If you are involved you must become fully familiar with the document (RCIA) and then allow the Spirit to move your program as He will. We must put into place as much as possible to facilitate God’s work in the lives of families & then hang on for the wild ride that propels us all beyond this earthly existence. It is a privilege for any of us to be involved in such a great work.

and about time we have a worthy alternative to the North American Forum for the Catechumenate.

The ACM is I believe the outgrowth of the Office of Catechetics at Franciscan University of Steubenville, which began an RCIA track at the summer catechetical conference a few years ago. This is a long-awaited development, and so reassuring. Hope everyone on these forums involved inRCIA will explore this marvelous resource and its excellent links.

Thank you so much for posting the link to the RCIA Site. I hope to begin training as an RCIA teacher in 2005 and I have heard that the course is very liberal 😦 Having access to this site will, I hope, keep me on track.

Dear yinekka,

May God bless your endeavors with RCIA. It is a humbling duty to be overseeing this process as people are making such great strides toward knowing God more intimately. I won’t pretend it’s easy, but it is definitely worthwhile… I have learned so much and grown so much spiritually through it too!

Thanks so much for sharing the website info. At a first glance, it appears to have a wealth of information to help with our process.
God bless!

I have been the director at our parish for the last ten years. Thanks this will be every useful.

I’ll pray for you, Yinekka.
I was asked to join my parish’s RCIA team a few months ago. I jumped at the chance and went to the first meeting. I noticed two things straight away:
  1. I was the only male Catholic present.
  2. I was the youngest Catholic present by at least 35 years.
I was asked to share my testimony to the catechumens, which I did (leaving out a few of the more controversial parts). I focused on how WYD 2000 changed my life because I went to Rome very liberal in outlook (I had dog-eared copies of John Sheby Spong’s books). At one point in a pub outside Ostia, I challenged our pilgrimage’s leader, then-Archbishop (now Cardinal) George Pell on a gamut of issues: pre-marital sex, contraception, female priests etc Contrary to his public reputation, Pell kindly, patiently - wisely - heard my protests then responded to each with charity, logic and good humour. That 20 minute encounter made me stop and think about how well I understood the faith I claimed, and begin my “reversion.”
I mentioned this at the RCIA meeting. The RCIA leaders were astonished, and the catechumens were intrigued. They approached me later asking me for more info about my conversation with Pell. Seeing the opportunity, I happily obliged! 🙂
The catechumens - particularly the male ones - wanted to discuss theology. The RCIA team wanted to discuss feelings.
I wonder why I was never invited to another RCIA meeting?

I am so pleased to have the rpi link, and to find that Bro Rich is involved, since you are so reliable and dependable on RCIA topics. There is such a myriad of sources and resources out there, and wading through it all trying to determine what is useful, what is unobjectionable and what is downright heretical could easily take all my time. found CTL two years ago, and “spot-checked” several Sundays, and was so impressed. We use it for RCIA at every age level, and a copy of the family issue (English and Spanish) goes home with every CCD family. Now that I know you are involved, rpi and ctl can go to the top of my list of great RCIa resources. I am now on the diocesan team for planning workshops, seminars and RCIA trainings, so I will make sure this site is promoted.
