What kind of gift would you like to receive from your husband or wife?

(As for me, all I want is a box of Fannie May creams)

I don’t need anything except prayer and support and challenge in my spiritual journey. Other than that, I am happy with a card.

A simple flower with a card and an “I love you” followed by a hug and a kiss. 😃

Maybe to attend an hour of adoration for me - that or offering Daily Mass for me. We are not big on commercial gifts for each other just because it is a “holiday” 🙂 Rather honor St. Valentine than Hallmark.

To finish my above thought - a bit of personal time, a backrub or footrub is a nice non-commercial gift. I’ll most likely give DH and DS pedicures…

Thank you, you just gave me the perfect idea for Valentines day. Hubby wants to take me to dinner, I think I will suggest mass then dinner… just time with him alone is a special occassion with 3 teens in the house.

A card is fine - no candy! I’m saving to go to Rome for Pentecost, so I don’t want him spending money on any gifts! I plan to get him a hat like the Americans wore at the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. Target sells them. I think I’ll get red 😉 —KCT

My dress shoes are shot and I need a bathing suit for our vacation so I think it will be what I need and that is perfect.

For most of the years of our marriage, we have not “celebrated” the day with gifts feeling it was over-commercialized by the florist and gift card industries. But my husband surprised me yesterday with a lovely (early) Valentine’s gift, and something he knew I had wanted for a while–and I have to admit it was a delightful surprise–mostly b/c it was so unexpected.

I am making a nice dinner for DH when he gets home from work and giving him a poem I wrote. He went above and beyond last year when I had my stroke so it’s the least I could do. I want to do more but I still can’t overdo it. (sigh).

This AM, it was snowing so I got up before he did and brushed the car off before he went to work. He was surprised!

😃

Ok I bite…You’re killin me…what did he give you?

have not received flowers or gifts for Valentine’s B-day etc. since DD moved out (why do I suspect she was buying them or making dad buy them), so out of concern for my health DH does not do this, knowing I would have a stroke if I ever did get flowers or a gift.

DH is buying me a new pillow. I’ve been asking for one for a while. My pillow (which I have used for years!!) is so old that the stuffing inside is clumped together in some spots and non-exsistant in others. I’m getting him a late valentines day present, a computer game that he has been raving about, that comes out in march.

We just got rid of our annoying roommate and have vowed never to have another one. So we’ll probably enjoy a nice romantic dinner with candle light to celebrate both valentines day and our new-found liberation (freedom to express our marriage in our own home!!), now all I have to do is clear the table of all my sewing machine stuff now that there is more room to put it elsewhere…

Well, I guess you’ll have to call me a “material girl” because I love getting jewelry on special occasions. Anything that sparkles pleases me be it crystal or diamonds–they’re the same to me.

Anyhoo, my dh went out of his way to buy a beautiful diamond eternity pendant I saw on TV that I had said I’d love to have. This morning he gave that beautiful pendant to me all wrapped up in a lovely box just for it. He got a big hug and a kiss from me along with many oohs and awhs! What a wonderful guy I have! I can’t wait to wear the pretty thing to Sunday Mass, which is only one of a very few occasions I dress up. I’m a happy gal today!

Happy Valentine’s Day to you all! ❤️

My husband woke me up this morning with a smiling baby in his arms, telling me that breakfast was ready and he was about to put our son in his high chair. When I got to the kitchen, he served me home-made pink pancakes! He’s such a sweetie pie! All I managed to do was sneak some cherry cordial chocolates into his bag before he left for work… I better come up with something nice for dinner tonight!

But we met on Feb. 12, 1999, so it has been our tradition for seven years to celebrate our “love day” on 2-12 instead of 2-14 like everyone else 🙂

Pink pancakes? That is so sweet!

Isn’t he? He’s quite the domestic hubby! I have a hot bath waiting for him with bath salts and candles and his comfy PJs waiting for him, I have the 2-man tent set up in our living room with the scrabble set in there (I was able to find out what he “felt like doing” tonight without spoiling the surprise ;)) on a blanket, with some outdoor-scented air freshner in the tent. And while he’s bathing, I’m going to finish up dinner! Thank goodness my son fell asleep (although I’ll probably pay for this at 11 pm tonight!). Aaaahhh, I better hurry up and do the finishing touches, he’s about to get home! Happy St. Valentine’s Day everyone!!

It is 10:34 and so far I didn’t get a card, a gift, any kind of special spiritual expression (prayers, etc.) He is asleep on the couch right now. He fell asleep watching a movie I have seen and didn’t enjoy much the first time… “Sin City” The last thing I heard from him was “I love this movie.”

Now I’m posting here because I’m a little bit blue. 😦 This is the 16th anniversary of when we started dating. He was gone on a mission for a week and made it home the day before St. Valentine’s Day. I made a special effort to do many special things for him, from cooking special foods to giving him great gifts and lots of expressions of love…but he didn’t do a single special thing for me today…I just don’t understand it. My only guess is that he is so happy and content in our marriage that he either takes it for granted or doesn’t think he needs to make an effort anymore.

He really loved the Play Station Portable and special chocolate and card I gave to him this morning though.

Flowers (though I told him not to), a splurge cookbook (that I don’t need but wanted), and he repaired our wedding album that had the back cover broken off. He’s such a good boy, even 20 years later. ❤️
